Every Sunday morning, people gather at Colonia Chapel to remember our Lord Jesus Christ. We do so because we each believe that that He died to atone for our sins, an act that deserves our response. We also do this because He asked us to – you can read His request in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 22:19).Our Sunday morning meeting might be different from others that you may have attended. Based on what we’ve read in the Bible, there is no script for the meeting and no choir or musical instruments. Since the Bible teaches that all believing Christians are priests to God, we have neither ordained clergy nor a person chosen to lead the proceedings. We leave the organizing of our collective thoughts to the leading of the Holy Spirit – you can read more about the basis for these practices in Ephesians 4:7-12, 1 Peter 2:5 and our Statement of Beliefs.On Sunday mornings, people gather at Colonia Chapel to share in the bread and wine that represents the body and blood of our Lord Jesus. In doing so, we remember what He gave in dying and reflect on the meaning of His rising again. The men in fellowship may offer hymns, scripture readings and prayers during this remembrance. Women participate silently with their heads veiled according to 1 Corinthians 11:4-16 and 1 Corinthians 14:34.Those who already attend Colonia Chapel can share in the bread and the wine because we know one another (I Corinthians 10:16). Visitors from like-minded Christian meetings that are known to us should bring a letter of commendation attesting to their standing in their home meeting. Otherwise, we ask that visitors lovingly refrain from taking bread or wine until we can speak with you and ensure that you fully understand the communion we seek to share. If the bread and wine are not passed to you on your first visit, please understand that we seek to maintain Godly order in all things, especially in communing with our Lord Jesus Christ. Following the morning meeting, there’s a coffee break for all. Afterwards, we meet again for a song time for young and old alike. Thereafter, the younger folks attend age-appropriate classes and the adults stay in the Chapel for teaching as well. The meeting schedule can be viewed on our website.
